Hon. Prime Minister's Visit to Norway


Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe paid an Official Visit to Norway from 3rd -06th October 2018, at the invitation of Prime Minister Erna Solberg. He was accompanied by Prof. Mrs. Maithree Wickramasinghe, Hon. Gamini Wijith Wijayamuni Zoysa, Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic Resource Development and Rural Economy, Sri Lanka Ambassador to Norway H.E. Prof. Arusha Cooray, MP Kavinda Jayawardena and MP Hesha Vithanage and Senior Officials of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe was hosted to a Luncheon by his Norwegian counterpart with whom he had Official Talks. The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka also had meetings with the Minister for Foreign Affairs Ms. Ine Eriksen Søreide, President of the Parliament of Norway Ms. Tone Wilhelmsen Trøen and the Minister of International Development Mr. Nikolai Astrup hosted the Sri Lanka Prime Minister and his delegation to Dinner.

A Joint Statement has been issued by H.E. Ms. Erna Solberg, Prime Minister of Norway and Hon. Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, on the Occasion of the Official Visit from Sri Lanka to Oslo, 5 October.

Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe inspected the XXL storage in Oslo which is driven by robotics technology to store vegetables, fruits and fish. He also visited the Surveillance Laboratory of the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute and participated in a special discussion at the Pyre Hotel in Oslo with Norway and Sri Lanka’s business community.
