GENERAL
INFORMATION
Under
Section 5 of the Consular Function Act,the Embassy is deemed
to register marriages in Norway. The Embassy has been vested
in power to register marriages in Norway under the following
categareis:
1.
The General Marriages Ordinance (Chapter 112)
2.
Kandyan Marriages and Divorce Act (Chapter 113)
3.
Register under the Muslim Marriages and Divorce Act (chapter
115)
At
least one of the parties to the marriage should be a citizen
of Sri Lanka.
The
particular parties should legally reside in Norway.
Both
parties should not be within the prohibited age of marriage.
When
the party is below the age of 21, the consent of father or mother
is required. When the parents are not available, then the consent
of the guardian is required.
The
parties to the marriage should not fall within the prohibited
degree of relationship.

Both
parties for the marriage should report to the Embassy between
9.00 - 12.30 for the registration. The marriage is registered
in the presence of two witnesses by the Diplomatic Officer/Consular
Officer of the Embassy.

fees payable by the applicant for registration of marriage are
as follows:

Notice of marriage - NOK 115-
2.
Registration of marriage - NOK 115-
3.
Certified copy - NOK 115-
This
can be paid over the counter OR can be deposited to the Embassy
Bank Account No. 7058.05.77189 DnB NOR Bank. Please make sure
to send a copy of paid Bank slip with the documents.
