CONSULAR SERVICES   >> REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGE >>          REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGES UNDER KANDIYAN MARRIAGE & DIVORCE ACT (Chap.113) The marriage subject to be registered under this Act should be between persons subject to the Kandiyan Law. Therefore concerned parties should give a declaration on the following fact. Both parties to the marriage are persons subject to the Kandiyan Law. Both parties wish to solemnize and register their marriage under the Kandiyan Marriage and Divorce Act. NOTE: Making of a false declaration is an offence both under the consular function Act and Kandyan Marriage and Divorce Act. Both parties should be within the lawful age of marriage. The parties to the marriage should not fall within the prohibited degrees of relationship. The minors, who wish to register the marriages under Kandiyan Law, should produce letter of consent from competent authorities, father/mother/guardian or elder brother or sister appropriately.
