                            REGISTRATION OF BIRTH AFTER 3 MONTHS WITHIN 1 YEAR OF BIRTH
   
  • There is a special procedure to be followed when the application is made for the Registration of Birth after 3 months and within 1 year of the birth.
 
  • Father of the child has to give a letter, explaining as to why the birth was not registered within 3 months after the birth.
 
  • The birth should have taken place in Norway.
 
  • The father of the child should be a citizen of Sri Lanka at the time of the child's birth
  • Father/ Mother can apply for the registration of birth.
 
  • Birth registration fee of NOK 260 is levied on each application. This amount can be paid over the counter OR can be deposited to the Embassy Account No. 7058.05.77189 DnB NOR Bank. Please make sure to send a copy of paid Bank slip along with relevant documents.
 
  • Applicants are kindly requested to complete all the cages in the application forms appropriately and make sure not to leave any cages blank.
 
  • Application form for the Registration of Birth could be obtained over the counter at the Consular Section of the Embassy OR by post, sending a self-addressed stamped envelope with a request OR can be downloaded from the Embassy website www.srilanka.no
 
     Application procedure
  • Following duly filled application forms should be forwarded to the Consular Section of the Embassy.
 
         1. Duly filled Declaration of Birth after Three Months Section 24 with a photocopies.
         2. Duly filled Annexure A Form with duplicate and a photocopy.
         3. Duly filled Citizenship Form 1 with a photocopy.
  • Duly completed above documents should be forwarded to the Embassy with the following supported documents before lapsing one year after the birth.
  1. Passport of the parents with two photocopies of each photo pages/details pages and visa pages.
  1. Norwegian birth certificate of the child with a photocopy. The original birth certificate should be counter signed by the Consular Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Norway
  1. Original Marriage certificate of the parents. If the marriage has been registered outside Sri Lanka it should be countersigned by the relevant Authorities.
  1. Birth Certificates of the parents with photocopies.
  1. Citizenship Certificate of parents if they were born outside Sri Lanka
  1. When the father of the child is living in Norway as a asylum seeker and not having Sri Lankan travel document, he should produce a letter from the UDI to prove his legal eligibility to live in Norway. Please make sure to provide those letters with their English translations.
  1. Father's alien Passport, if applicable, with photocopies of the detailed and photo pages.
