  • All journalists/media personnel going to Sri Lanka should obtain prior visa from the Sri Lankan Embassy in Oslo. Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sri Lanka does not recommend accreditation for journalists who arrive in Sri Lanka on tourist visas. List of equipments carried by the media personal should be forwarded to the Embassy well in advance with the application in order to inform Colombo.

 

Filming tourism promotional documentaries

 

  • Media teams going to Sri Lanka for filming for tourism promotional documentaries or Sri Lanka tourist Board familiarization Tours are required to fill the "SLTB selection criteria for journalist/TV crews for FAM tours" form.

 

 

  • Please note that SLTB needs at least 30 working days for processing the relevant documents prior to the scheduled commencement of projects. Such media teams should have a ground handling team to coordinate the project in Sri Lanka.

 

Filming of documentary

 

  • Filming of documentary, feature films should be required to complete the "National Film Co-corporation Agreement" along with the synopsis of the documentary, itinerary of the media team in Sri Lanka as well as location of the filming. Please note that the documents should be submitted to the Embassy well in advance to be forwarded to the Foreign Ministry in Sri Lanka at least 07 working days prior to the scheduled departure date in order to enable sufficient time to obtain NFC approval.

 

News coverage

  • Visas for this category will be issued after getting clearance from Sri Lanka for a maximum period of one month.
  • Visa fee of NOK 300 is levied on each application. This can be paid directly to the counter OR can be deposited to the Embassy Bank Account No. 7058.05.77189 DnB NOR Bank.
  • Please make sure to send a copy of paid bank slip along with the application form.

Visa Procedure

  • Applicants are kindly requested to produce following documents for the process.
  • Duly filled Application for a visit Visa IM 32 B Form and recently taken two color photographs.
  • Passport, which should have at least 06 months validity period.
  • Letter of request addressed to H.E. the Ambassador, Embassy of Sri Lanka, Oslo, by the particular media organization or by the applicant him/herself.
  • Letter should explain the following details appropriately.
    • Name and Passport No. of the journalist/media person.
    • Purpose of the assignment.
    • Brief introduction of the organization.
    • Brief information about the journalist/media person.
    • Contact details of his Sri Lankan contact person.
